North Outerbelt West Improvements - City of Effingham

The City of Effingham North Outerbelt West project consists of 2,127 feet of PCC sidewalk, curb and gutter, street lighting and PCC driveways.  This development is an extension of sidewalks, and lighting to improve the safety for pedestrians in the area.  The project was funded by IDOT Motor Fuel Tax and Local Funds and the total cost is estimated to be $678,000.  Milano & Grunloh Engineers provided the Design and Construction Engineering for this endeavor.

Division Street Improvements - City of Altamont

In the Fall of 2016, the City of Altamont experienced a sewer collapse along Division Street, which is the main entrance and only truck access to ADM’s grain elevator in Altamont. The street improvement project, totaling approximately $942,000, to repair the damage includes a new 9” thick concrete street (from Main Street to 6th Street), curb and gutter, storm  sewer, and ADA intersection improvements. Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC together with South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission worked with the City to secure $163,309 in DCEO Grant funds, $521,588 in EDP funds, and $38,200 in TARP funds to repair the failing storm sewer, and crumbling concrete street.  Kieffer Brothers was the selected contractor and has recently begun demolition and replacement of the storm sewer. The project should be completed by September 2019, to allow the road to be open for the Fall harvest season.

Hartke Subdivision - Village of Dieterich

The Village of Dieterich recently completed a 38-lot subdivision next to the school. The infrastructure improvements consisted of new streets, storm sewer, sanitary  sewer, and water.  The total cost was $1.9 Million.  The project was completed in the fall of 2018 by Effingham Asphalt.  The Village has already sold 15 of the 38 lots.

Brewbaker Drive, St. Elmo IL - Seefried Industrial Properties, Inc.

In association with the construction of the new distribution center in St. Elmo, Seefried Industrial Properties, Inc. reconstructed and extended the access road, Brewbaker Drive.  FCL Builders, served as the general contractor for the project with the assistance of multiple sub-contractors.  The project consisted of milling, overlay, and new aggregate shoulders along 0.8 miles of the existing asphalt street, from Interstate Drive to the east edge of Pinnacle Foods.  The project also included the reconstruction of 0.25 miles of roadway, including removing the existing roadway, widening, new concrete pavement, ditches and aggregate shoulders. 

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC performed design and construction engineering, including inspection and material testing for this project.

 

Route 40 Improvements - Village of Teutopolis

With the recent development along Commercial Drive in the Village of Teutopolis, the Village was required to make improvements to US Route 40 via the addition of turning lanes.  Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC assisted the Village with securing a $1.7 million grant from IDOT to make the required improvements consisting of storm sewer, concrete widening, and asphalt overlay.  The project is anticipated to begin in the Spring of 2019 and should be completed by Fall 2019.

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC provided all necessary work to complete the highway improvements and storm sewer design.  Milano & Grunloh Engineers also assisted the Village in securing funds to make the project a reality.  Thank you for allowing us to contribute to the success of this project.

 

Sidewalk & Pedestrian Bridge (ITEP) - Village of Dieterich

The Village of Dieterich was recently awarded an $800,000 Illinois Department of Transportation ITEP Grant for enhancements to the Village’s Transportation Infrastructure along portions of Main, Section, Liberty, Virginia, Church, Center, Hunter, and Vine Streets. The project will include the replacement of 8,860 feet of sidewalk with new ADA compliant sidewalk, grades, and crossings, replacement of three pedestrian bridges, drainage improvements, and street improvements. The Village will leverage the grant with $200,000 in Village funds, for a total project cost of $1 million.  The project is slated to begin this Spring and should be completed by late Summer. A.J. Walker Construction Company from Mattoon will be the project contractor.

Commercial Subdivision - Wooden Shoe Development

The Village of Teutopolis partnered with Wooden Shoe Development to transform 20 acres of farmland west of Teutopolis into Commercial Subdivision.  The Village utilized $99,000 in RBEG grant funds, $362,600 in IDOT EDP grant funds, $37,300 in TARP grant funds, $225,000 in RLF funds and Wooden Shoe Development contributed  approximately $66,000 in funds for the project.  Commercial Subdivision features a new 80,000 lb. concrete street with curb and gutters, and storm sewer; a new sanitary sewer and lift station; and a new 10” watermain. 

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC completed all necessary work to complete the street, sanitary sewer, water, and storm sewer design.  Milano & Grunloh Engineers also assisted the Village and the Developer in securing the funds to make the project a reality. Prairie Ace Estate Subdivision

Prairie Ace Estates Subdivision is being developed by Prairie Ace Estates, LLC. This new fifty-one acre subdivision located on the North side of the Effingham Country Club will feature fifty-nine lots for residential development, condominiums, town houses, and duplexes, giving residents several options. Prairie Ace  Estates Subdivision will offer EJ Water, Innovative Wastewater, Norris Electric, Ameren Gas, and fiber utilities for telephone and internet. The subdivision features country living while being just a couple minutes from a round of golf and quick, easy access to the City of Effingham. 

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC provided preliminary and final platting, and design and permitting of the water, sewer, and streets for the project.

City of Effingham - Bike Path (ITEP Improvements)

For the past several years, the City of Effingham has been actively pursuing and constructing projects to enhance the flow and safety of non-vehicular (pedestrians, bicyclist, handicap accessible, etc.) traffic throughout the City. In early 2017, the City of Effingham was awarded a $934,400 ITEP grant for enhancements to the existing transportation system which include adding pavement markings and signage to existing streets in Effingham to create a 30.2 mile designated bike path that connects Evergreen Hollow, Community, Bliss, and Hendelmeyer Parks and other City amenities; the construction of kiosk project signs at each park denoting the bike path route throughout the City; and the construction of a concrete vehicle parking lot at the head of the TREC Trail. The City will supplement the grant with $233,600 in local funds for a total project cost of $1,168,000. 

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC is providing Grant Application and Administration Assistance, Design Engineering, and Construction Inspection for this  project.

City of Arcola - Sheldon Street Reconstruction

The City of Arcola will construct a 4,560 lineal foot dedicated truck route in support of the Libman Company’s commitment to expand its operation within the City. The $3,082,161 project will be funded by a $275,000 DCEO Community Development Assistance Program Grant, $250,000 from the Libman Company, $1,791,731 in IDOT funds, $625,000 in City RLF funds, and $140,430 in City TIF funds. At the time of the grant application, the Libman Company employed 474 persons at the Arcola location. As a  result of this project the Company will hire a minimum of 61 additional full-time employees. Construction is slated to begin in early 2018 and will be completed in 2019.

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC assisted the City with the filing of the grant application and will also assist with grant administration, design engineering, and construction inspection.
