Watermain Replacement - Village of Mt. Auburn

The Village of Mt. Auburn’s water distribution system was experiencing multiple watermain breaks, creating problems with low water pressure and discoloration, and the potential for unsafe levels of bacteria.  In 2017 Milano & Grunloh      Engineers, LLC assisted in securing $500,000 in DCEO CDBG Grant funds for the Village to make necessary upgrades to the system. The $553,200 project will include the replacement of 14,495 feet of water main, hydrants, and meters. MB Construction broke ground on the project in April 2019, and should be completed by early Fall 2019.

Milano & Grunloh Engineers provided grant application and administration, design engineering, construction staking, and construction inspection.  It’s been a pleasure to work with the Village of Mt. Auburn and we thank them for the opportunity to assist them with this project.

 

Watermain Replacement - City of Effingham

The City of Effingham recently began construction on a watermain replacement project along Mulberry Street, Lawrence Avenue, Linden Street, Clark Avenue, and Franklin Avenue.  These areas were experiencing multiple watermain breaks and discolored water due to the aging undersized cast iron line. 

The contractor, Kieffer Bros, will replace 4,995 lineal feet of the old watermain with new 8” PVC pipe. The City will utilize $500,000 in DCEO CDGB grant funds to offset the total cost of the project.  Milano & Grunloh  Engineers, LLC provided design engineering, construction engineering and grant administration for the project.  We would like to thank the City of Effingham for allowing us to be a part of this project.

 

New Water Tower - Village of Findlay

The Village of Findlay’s water tower had become dilapidated and had exceeded its useful life, resulting in a health and safety risk to the residents.  In 2017 the Village was awarded a $450,000 DCEO CDBG Grant which was leveraged with $150,000 in local funds for a total project cost of $600,000.  The Grant monies were used to construct a new water tower, watermain, hydrants, and other related costs to address the aging infrastructure.  Phoenix Fabricators was the contractor for the water tower replacement and the Village was the contractor for the watermain, hydrants, and appurtenances.  The project was completed in the Fall of 2018.

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC prepared the grant application, and provided grant administration, design engineering, and construction engineering for the   project. 

 

Water Main & Meter Replacement - City of Arcola

The City of Arcola was experiencing frequent breaks and low pressure along the existing watermain resulting in a health and safety risk to its residents.  In 2017 the Village was awarded a $450,000 DCEO CDBG Grant which is leveraged with $870,000 in USDA Rural Development funds, for a total project cost of $1,320,000.  The Grant monies are being used to construct approximately 8,900 lineal feet of watermain, hydrants, service line, meters, and other related costs to address the aging infrastructure.  C&S Companies, Inc. is the contractor for the watermain replacement and B&T Drainage is the contractor for the meter replacement.  The project should be completed in the Fall of 2018.

Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation - Village of Ramsey

The Village of Ramsey began experiencing raw ntreated sewage backups due to the aging of their sewage treatment systems.  In 2016 the Village was awarded a $450,000 DCEO CDBG Public Infrastructure Grant, which they leveraged with $154,000 of local funds for the replacement of the lift stations, improvements to the sewer treatment lagoon, and replacing dilapidated sanitary sewer lines.

The project which will benefit 426 households and 993  residents is slated to be completed in 2017 at a total project cost of $604,000.  Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC helped secure the funding, completed design engineering, and is providing construction inspection for the project and helped secure and administer the grant funds.  Thank you to the Village of Ramsey for your continued  confidence in our services.

EJ Water Cooperative, Inc. - Phases 34, 35, & 40

EJ Water Cooperative, Inc. is continually and actively implementing projects that improve the potable water quality in rural areas. The majority of rural households currently utilize wells for potable water, many of which test positive for unsafe levels of T-Coli and E-Coli Bacteria. EJ Water also interconnects with and replaces old dilapidated water systems that have become a health hazard to those they serve. Three such projects have been constructed in 2017. 

Phases 34, 35, and 40 saw the construction of over 115 miles of watermain to serve approximately 500 households in the Village of Sailor Springs in Clay County, German and Preston Townships in Richland County, Avena Township in Fayette County, Neoga Township in Cumberland County, Big Spring and Lakewood Townships in Shelby County and Locust Township in Christian County. These projects totaled approximately $7.3 million and utilized $3 million in DCEO Grant Funds and $4.2 million in USDA Rural Development Loan and Grant Funds.

Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC provided assistance with the Grant Application and Administration, Design Engineering, and Construction Inspection for these projects.

City of Sullivan - Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation

The City of Sullivan is currently in the process of rehabilitating its existing sanitary sewer system in the north central portion of the City, which had been experiencing backups into homes and ditches. In 2015, the City applied for and  received a $450,000 DCEO Community Development Block Program Grant for Public Infrastructure. The City leveraged the grant with $342,270 of local funds for a total project cost of $792,270. The Grant monies have allowed the City to  contract Followell Construction to repair or replace approximately 11,000 lineal feet of sanitary sewer mains, manholes, and services lines to alleviate the health and safety threat to 159 homes and 385 residents. The project will be completed later this year.

Village of Edgewood - Watermain Replacement

The Village of Edgewood was experiencing frequent breaks and low pressure along the existing watermain resulting in a health and safety risk to its residents.  In 2016 the Village was awarded a $450,000 DCEO CDBG Grant which it leveraged with $150,000 in USDA Rural Development funds, for a total project cost of $600,000.  The Grant monies are being used to construct approximately 12,100 lineal feet of watermain, hydrants, service line, meters, and other related cost to address the aging infrastructure.  Followell Construction is the contractor and should complete the project in the Spring of 2017.

Town of Sigel - Lagoon Renovations

The Town of Sigel is located in the Southeastern portion of Shelby County.  The Town’s existing facultative lagoons were no longer providing proper sewage treatment throughout the year.  The Town collaborated with Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC and we were able to assist them with alternative treatments, funding options, design engineering and construction engineering to solve their sewer treatment needs.  After reviewing all of the options the Town selected a treatment process that utilizes an aeration process in the lagoon to properly treat the sewage. 

Milano & Grunloh Engineers  also assisted the Town with applying for and obtaining grant funds to keep the project cost down.  Thank you to the Town of Sigel for allowing us to be a part of your project

Fayette Water Company - Phases 8 & 10

Fayette Water Company began in 1991 and currently supplies over 1,600 customers in St. Elmo, Brownstown, Beecher City, and St. Peter with potable water.  Milano & Grunloh Engineers, LLC began working for Fayette Water in 2010 and has assisted with permitting, acquiring easements, applying for grants and loans and all of the engineering and surveying for the company.

Fayette Water Company recently completed Phase 10 at a project cost of $522,000.  The funding for the project consisted of Rural Development Funds and completed system improvements and served twenty residences throughout Fayette County. 

Fayette Water Company is starting construction on Phase 8 which will serve 150 residents in Sharon, Shafter, and Bear Grove Townships in Fayette County.  The funding for the project consists of $1,350,000 in DCEO Construction Grant, $85,000 in DCEO Design Grant, $683,000 in Rural Development Grant, and $1,685,000 in Rural Development Loan Funds for a total of approximately $3.8 million.  The project should be completed by the Spring of 2017.
