The Village of Dieterich was recently awarded an $800,000 Illinois Department of Transportation ITEP Grant for enhancements to the Village’s Transportation Infrastructure along portions of Main, Section, Liberty, Virginia, Church, Center, Hunter, and Vine Streets. The project will include the replacement of 8,860 feet of sidewalk with new ADA compliant sidewalk, grades, and crossings, replacement of three pedestrian bridges, drainage improvements, and street improvements. The Village will leverage the grant with $200,000 in Village funds, for a total project cost of $1 million. The project is slated to begin this Spring and should be completed by late Summer. A.J. Walker Construction Company from Mattoon will be the project contractor.
